Programs that bridge the time

school and home
No child has to be home alone
after school, simply because of
the unavailability of affordable care.
To provide a safe place to go after school, with nurturing staff and fun activities, that engage kids, while building character and encouraging community involvement, that is affordable for the average family.
Affordable school-age supervision & support in a nurturing camp like
atmosphere.
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. If you are interested in registering for our program at SJMS, you can find all the info you need here.
Well, the reality is, even though it is best for middle school students to be in a supervised, safe place where they can be with their friends, they are actually old enough to be on their own. What we have done at Bridge, is come up with a program that will meet parents’ needs for supervision, assignment help and monitoring; with our students’ desperate need to socialize with their friends. All will be done safely distanced at home, using breakout (‘hang out’) rooms monitored by our staff, to further guard against mischief.
Students would sign in online and join with video & audio access. We would do a group welcome activity, like our very popular ‘Word of the Day’ and then let them break into hang out rooms for a quick catch up with friends. Later they would settle in to do their assignments, by grade level (6th, 7th or 8th). Your student would then be muted, but visible to the staff member monitoring that room. As students need help, they would go to break-out rooms, where a staff member could answer their questions. Again, as before, Bridge helps with homework, but we are not a tutoring service. However, we will have access to check your student’s assignments and determine if assignments are missing, so that we can remind them and let you know, as well. During this time, as always, Bridge will enforce the ‘cell phones down’ policy during study times, to limit distractions and staff will encourage ‘day dreamers’ and ‘wanderers’ to get back to work. As we do in Bridge, if students need to go offline to grab something from another room or for a bathroom break, they will sign out with us, leave their camera rolling and be expected back within five minutes. Additionally, we will be offering enrichment activities like virtual ‘field trips’, games, puzzles, movies, cooking & crafts, all from the safety of your home. We know that this isn’t exactly like our onsite program in our fabulous Bridge space, but we have tried to recreate the things most important to parents and students, while still providing a safe, productive and fun space for kids to hangout. We also know how difficult the last trimester was for families and are simply attempting to ease the burden a bit, especially for parents who had to add teaching and tracking to your already full days.
Bridge will be online from 1:00 – 5:00 pm MTTHF, to monitor students’ daily progress, answer assignment questions, liaison between students, teachers and parents regarding missing or incomplete assignments and offer enrichment activities like virtual ‘field trips’, games, puzzles, movies, science experiments, cooking & crafts,
